An over-sized mirror is an immediate solution to a blank wall. Look for one with an unfinished frame and paint it to your liking. Bonus: if you feel like changing the overall color scheme of the room, you can always repaint the frame of the mirror! While over-sized mirrors can be pricey, you can find them for good prices if you’re patient. Again, Ikea has some of the best prices.
Is there a particular room in your house that you’ve been avoiding because of dim lighting? To most people it’s obvious that a room that gets little or no sunlight, should not be painted in dark shades. However, what many don’t realize is that while dark shades are off limits, painting a dark room with white are pastel shades is also a big DON’T. Because light colored walls don’t actually provide light, you are doing the overall aesthetic of the room a disservice. You’ll have to use artificial lighting in the room no matter what, and you won’t be able to admire the uniqueness of a pale shade without the presence of direct sunlight. The answer to the dark room dilemma is to select a mid-tone shade. These are the shades literally located towards the middle of a color strip.
